Help Shape Newcastle’s Tourism Future by Completing New Municipal Survey

Newcastle tourism survey

PAID SURVEY: Newcastle Municipality

Newcastle Municipality is calling on local businesses, residents and tourism-linked stakeholders to participate in its Tourism Development Survey, aimed at building a clearer understanding of the attractions, venues, services, businesses and opportunities that already exist within the Newcastle area.

The survey forms part of the Municipality’s broader effort to identify and strengthen Newcastle’s tourism economy by gathering input from those who either operate within the sector or contribute to the visitor experience in some way.

This includes accommodation providers, restaurants, event venues, farms, sports clubs, schools, heritage sites, transport providers, retailers, creatives, tour guides, local businesses and residents who may have valuable insight into Newcastle’s tourism potential.

Tourism is often viewed only through the lens of hotels, major attractions and formal travel operators.

However, in a city such as Newcastle, the tourism economy stretches much further. It includes local events, sporting fixtures, school activities, heritage spaces, outdoor experiences, restaurants, shopping areas, accommodation, transport services and even community-based attractions that visitors may not yet know about.

Paid Content

This is why the survey is not limited to traditional tourism businesses.

Instead, it is designed to capture a wider picture of what Newcastle already has, what can be improved, and where future opportunities may exist.

According to the survey information, the responses gathered will assist Newcastle Municipality’s Tourism Department with tourism planning, marketing, event development, business-sector engagement, tourism database development and future visitor-focused initiatives.

Participation in the survey is voluntary, with submitted information intended to support municipal tourism planning and development efforts.

For local businesses and residents, this is an opportunity to make sure their voices are included in the conversation.

Whether a business offers accommodation, food, entertainment, transport, retail, outdoor experiences, cultural value or support services, its input can help the Municipality understand what is already available and what is needed to better position Newcastle as a destination.

The survey also provides residents with an opportunity to highlight local places, experiences and tourism ideas that may not always receive formal attention.

This is especially important in a region where many valuable assets are often known by locals but remain under-marketed to visitors from outside the area.

By participating, stakeholders can help create a more practical tourism database, support better marketing decisions, identify gaps in the visitor experience, and contribute towards future tourism initiatives that are better aligned with what Newcastle actually offers on the ground.

Newcastle’s tourism potential cannot be built on guesswork.

It requires accurate local input from the people who live, work and trade in the city.

The more complete the information, the stronger the foundation for future planning, promotion and development.

Businesses, organisations and residents who believe they can contribute to Newcastle’s tourism economy are encouraged to complete the Newcastle Municipality Tourism Development Survey and ensure their sector, service or idea is represented.
