Four men are at large following an armed robbery on Scott Street, in the Newcastle Central Business District on Thursday, 19 February 2026. According to Newcastle SAPS spokesperson Lizzy Arumugam, the incident took place at approximately 10am at Osbies Clothing Store.
Police say the robbery began when a man entered the business and approached a salesperson near the rear of the premises.

He grabbed the employee and forced him further into the store, away from the front area.
Moments later, three additional suspects entered. One of them was armed with a firearm and confronted the store owner at the till, demanding cash.
At the same time, three staff members and a security guard were instructed to lie on the floor. Their hands were bound with cable ties, limiting any response while the suspects moved through the shop.
The group then took clothing, cash from the register, and a mobile phone before leaving the premises.
As per reports, they fled in a grey motor vehicle. The direction of travel has not been confirmed.
Furthermore, SAPS has opened a case, and investigations are ongoing. Officers are processing the scene and collecting witness statements as part of efforts to identify the suspects and the vehicle used in the escape.
Anyone with information is urged to contact SAPS or report anonymously via the Crime Stop hotline on 08600 10111 to assist police in their investigation.
