In an unsettling case, four men from Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal are now ensnared in a web of grave accusations, charged with hostage-taking, torture, and the attempted murder of an individual over a two-day period.
According to verified information from Newcastle South African Police Service (SAPS) Spokesperson Lizzy Arumugam, this dark episode transpired from Wednesday evening at 7pm, 22 January 2025, to Friday, 24 January 2025, at a residential address on Bird Street in Newcastle Central.
The victim’s visit to one of the suspects’ homes to discuss a lawnmower allegedly quickly devolved into a sinister scenario, when five men ambushed him upon arrival, dragging him into the house where they bound him with wire and placed rope around his neck.
In an act of sheer brutality, they positioned him on a chair, tied the rope to a ceiling fixture, and cruelly pulled the support from under him, leaving him suspended in terror.
But the horror didn’t end there; they allegedly gagged him with cloth, drenched his face with water in a mock drowning, and struck him with a gas cylinder.
This ordeal persisted until law enforcement intervened on Friday, 24 January 2025, resulting in the arrest of the culprits. Yet, only four of these men have been formally charged with these heinous acts.
Following their arrest, the accused made their initial appearance before the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 January 2025. The case has been postponed until Monday, 3 February 2025, for bail applications and for the suspects to formally address the charges against them.

I did do drugs and stay there with the resident family they have many illeagal firearms burried on the property which the right saps who are not on the payroll can come to the rescue of the neighbourhood which is crying out
