The incident unfolded just after 7 am as the motorist was driving down Drakensberg Drive.

An official source at the scene speculated that the woman lost control of her vehicle, though the exact circumstances remain unclear and are currently under investigation.

However, skid marks on the road reveal a desperate attempt to halt the car, which ultimately smashed into a tree on the central embankment along the road. The vehicle then slid a few feet past the tree before coming to a stop.

Charles Steyn of Magenta Emergency Medical Services noted that the vehicle’s occupant sustained moderate injuries, with the Magenta EMS team ensuring she was stable before transporting her to the hospital.

This incident follows the horrific incident which unfolded on Tuesday night, 28 May 2024, where a motorist crashed into the perimeter wall of the flats situated on Drakensberg Road, opposite the shopping centre on John Parks Avenue.

Following an update from EMS, Newcastillian News learned that the motorist from the incident on Tuesday night, unfortunately, passed away due to the extent of his injuries.
