Vehicles do not drive themselves /( at least not in SA….yet) they are driven. VW Polo’s are more often likely to driven reckless by younger drivers.

Comment on Horrific accident on 28 May 2024.

It saddens me to once again be the one to comment & ask a very important question.

Firstly it seems that this accident was caused because the driver was speeding & and driving recklessly. Tyre’s of a vehicle only gets ripped off like those seen in the pictures with high speed & very hard impact.

Secondly where was the on duty Police personnel/traffic Department personnel?

But during the morning rush hour, there where 2 unmarked Police vehicle’s making a very big unnecessary seen, siren’s going blocking off a driver of a white vehicle (which by the way was not speeding nor did this person resist). This a week ago right across of the “open gym” in Newcastle central.

So my question where was those Police officers on the night of this horrific accident, if they just did the same with this Polo driver this accident might have been prevented.

This is just in my opinion.

Drakensberg Drive has been a racetrack for very long. And, no, we don’t need more speedhumps.
If the Traffic Police do their jobs, instead of frequenting the shops, less of these accidents would occur.
Come on Traffic Department…you can make easy money for the town (by simply doing your jobs, and actually EARNING those expensive vehicles), as well as making the roads safer for all of us.
    Bring back the Booze Bus.
Put out a speedtrap or two.
    Check for licences.
Issue fines for ignoring red robots.
Issue fines for not stopping at stop streets.
    Don’t accept bribes.
In other words, do what you are getting paid for.

You don’t know the circumstances behind the incident you mentioned, the traffic officers/police in the unmarked vehicles obviously had a reason why they were blocking off the said motorist.

About the incident on Tuesday night how would the traffic officers be aware of a reckless driver, if they weren’t alerted of such reckless behavior, the Traffic officers aren’t able to be present in every street in Newcastle, the way you stating your opinion you blaming the traffic officers for this accident. Do you honestly think that traffic officers can prevent every accident if so you should ask yourself why are there so many accidents happening, it’s because we have reckless drivers who believe the road rules and roads belong to them. Stop trying to blame law enforcement when the culprits here are the reckless drivers.

  6. Jane says:

What is wrong with Newcastle people!!!!! The man crashed and then died on his way to hospital. Who cares about police and traffic cops and what they do or don’t do! He obviously made a bad decision to drive fast and now his family has to deal with his death and all people can do is once again talk about their little feelings and how they feel about other crap! You people need an IQ and a heart! Grow up!

  7. Natashia Mc Laren says:

    This is for Jane.

Dearest Jane would you still be so very abrupt with your words towards all the people whom is rightfully just giving there opinions if you are involved or one of your loved ones where to be involved in a car accident (not causing it, but simply just also driving on the same road) & all simply lightly stated because a selfish person made a wrong decision to speed.

Worst yet what if it is you or a loved one whom passes away, will you or your family left behind also have the same sentiment of, IT’S OKAY THE DRIVER I THE WRONG JUST MADE A BAD DECISION? ¿

So Jane maybe you should rather take a step back & not judge those who left comments on such a personal level but rather on a level which comes from actual high IQ levels, hearts that actually cares for all & and not just your own & grown up, level headed grown-ups!!!
