“De Hoop Collection is delighted to be hosting the magical-breakaway-from-reality De Hoop Vlei MTB Experience from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 May 2022”, announced William Stephens, owner of the De Hoop Collection.
“This exciting and exhilarating mountain biking experience gives bikers, friends and their families the chance to explore the terrain, vast open spaces and wildlife of De Hoop Nature Reserve, one of CapeNature’s flagship nature reserves. Truly, there’s no better place to enjoy a blend of pristine land, beach, teeming animal and birdlife than at De Hoop – and it’s one of the best land-based whale watching areas in the world.”

Organiser of the De Hoop Vlei MTB Experience, Anneke Jacobs of Overberg MTB Events explained that the riders will experience two days of challenging but spectacular riding on untamed and unspoilt mountain bike trails, plus miles and miles of breathtaking ocean views in and around the pristine De Hoop Nature reserve and Potberg area.
There will be a welcoming optional sunset ride on Friday afternoon for riders who want to stretch the legs and experience some of the extraordinary De Hoop Vlei views before dinner – Sunset Scramble to Melkkamer warm-up ride: 31km, 110m elevation. Saturday and Sunday will provide some decent time in the saddle and a few iconic climbs but just enough distance to enjoy the rest of the afternoon, socialising and relaxing with friends and family. Stage 1: Flatrock – 57km, 950m elevation / Stage 2: Trails to Whales: 63km: 785m elevation. Prize money for Category winners of the Open Men, Open Women, and Team entries.
