Duo found transporting 6000 litres of stolen diesel outside of Ladysmith

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

As fuel prices continue to soar, three men face legal repercussions for possessing illegally acquired diesel.

KZN police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala explains that the first two men were arrested on the N3 Freeway during a Ladysmith police operation.

“Police officers were patrolling the N3 when they spotted a vehicle with a trailer. The said vehicle was stopped, and it was established that it was carrying 6000 litres of diesel.”

Lieutenant Colonel Gwala points out that after the suspects failed to produce proof of purchase for the diesel, they were subsequently placed under arrest for possession of stolen property.

Additionally, Lieutenant Colonel Gwala highlights that one of the suspects was also charged in terms of the Immigration Act. Both suspects will now appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court.
