As of tomorrow, January 2, the price of fuel will be decreasing by a substantial amount. The expected drops are as follows:

  • Petrol 95 will decrease by R1.22
  • Petrol 93 will drop by R1.23
  • Diesel 0.05% will plummet by R1.54
  • Diesel 0.005% will go down by R1.56

This means the new fuel prices for January will be:

  • Petrol 95 – R14.01
  • Petrol 93 – R13.79
  • Diesel 0.05% – R13.14
  • Diesel 0.005% – R13.17

The Automobile Association claims one of the main reasons in the fuel price dropping, is because of the decrease in international oil prices. Furthermore, the rand has also made strong gains against the dollar during the month of November.

With the drop in the petrol and diesel prices, Newcastillians can now drive into the New Year with a stronger budget for their back to school shopping.
