Drugs worth around R120 000 seized in Lennoxton, NKZN

After being arrested with approximately R120 000 worth of drugs and R162 000 cash, three foreign nationals are facing serious charges in Newcastle, Northern KwaZulu-Natal.

The three men were taken into police custody on Saturday, 31 July 2021, when Amajuba Crime Intelligence received information regarding syndicates dealing in drugs in the Newcastle suburb, Lennoxton. 

Reacting to the information, the operational team consisting of the Newcastle K9 unit’s Warrant Officer Dlomo, Seargent Nkabinde, and Constable Ngcobo, with the Amajuba District Task Team’s Warrant Officer Rose, Constables Razak and Lenovo, as well as Sergeant Birbal from Newcastle Crime Prevention and Imran Ghafoor of Newcastle Crime Fighter Task Team, immediately put a plan into action. 

Imran Ghafoor explains the operation was then conducted between 10 pm and 11 pm in the Lennoxton area, where large quantities of KAT, crystal meth, heroin, and rock, worth an estimated street value R120 000, along with the large sum of cash, was recovered.

Ghafoor highlights that the three suspects were charged for possession of drugs and dealing in drugs, and will now deal with the law.
