Lincoln Heights Secondary School to host art exhibit

It is said, a picture is worth a thousand words. With a flourish of colour and creativity, art often carries more than mere words.

Through a single piece of art, an artist shares their view of the world. Their heart and soul open for all to see.

On September 8, Lincoln Heights Secondary School will host an art exhibit at the school. Starting at 2pm, the art exhibit is sure to capture the hearts and imagination of all. Three of the artists who will be displaying their works, are Grade 12 learners Manishag Akobian, Aaliya Chichwadia and Saeeda Tinkouree.

“I have been doing art for three years. Not only is it a lot of fun, but it takes your mind off things. It is like an escape,” says 17-year-old Saeeda.

For 17-year-old Aaliya, the art world also offers the chance to learn. “Art is a nice experience, you constantly learn new techniques.”

Manishag says what she loves most about art, is how creative one can be. “You get to express yourself through your work. Even though it is hard work, requiring determination, it is a lot of fun.”
