Local law enforcement is determined to eradicate crime in the area, targeting lawbreakers, setting the wheels of justice into motion.
Delving into recent successes, Madadeni Police Spokesperson Captain Mandlenkosi Nkosi explains, the Madadeni SAPS recently arrested a man for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He says the arrest follows the police receiving information concerning a man involved in a heated argument with a shop owner.
The quarrel allegedly revolved around a business deal, and during the altercation between the men, the suspect pulled out a gun and proceeded to threaten the shopkeeper.
Madadeni Police have subsequently confiscated the gun and ammunition, taking the suspect into custody. Following the arrest, Captain Nkosi adds that an alleged drug dealer has also been taken into police custody. The arrest was made when Warrant Officer Madida of VISPOL reported to duty and received information about a man selling drugs in Section 5, Madadeni.



The police officer responded to the tip-off and recovered 140 Mandrax tablets, 36 pokes of dagga, and a further 2.63kg of loose dagga. The 41-year-old suspect is now in custody.
Both men have appeared in Madadeni Magistrate Court, being remanded in custody until 12 May 2021 for their bail application.
Additionally, Osizweni police have arrested five people for breaking curfew, thereby contravening the lockdown regulations according to the Disaster Management Act of 2020.
