Police seize dagga valued at R2 million following a car chase

The Vryheid Crime Intelligence, K9 Unit and Task Team seized dagga to the estimated street value of R2 million on Monday morning, 12 April 2021.

This follows the team of law enforcement officials responding to information regarding a vehicle suspected of transporting dagga in the Vryheid area.

Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele embellishes, “The suspect’s vehicle was spotted travelling at a high speed in the Gluckstadt area. A chase ensued and other role-players joined the police.”

During the high-speed chase, the suspects drove into a timber plantation in Gluckstadt, where they abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot. Colonel Mbele states, “The vehicle was found with 14 bales of dagga. Another 11 bales were found scattered in the plantation.”

The suspect’s vehicle has since been impounded for further investigation.
