Osizweni police recover drugs to the estimated value of R11 000

Pursuing the ends of justice is a journey which often sees law enforcement officials combatting an issue which plagues communities. One of these issues is that of drugs circulating in Newcastle and its surrounding areas.

Recently, the Osizweni Policing Area, with the assistance of the Osizweni Crime Prevention Unit conducted an intelligence-driven operation. This follows the Osizweni SAPS receiving information regarding drugs being sold in the area,

During the intelligence-driven operation, a house was targeted in Section E, Osizweni. A thorough search of the house resulted in the police recovering 11 parcels of heroin.

Following the bust, the team patrolled Section A, Osizweni. During the patrol, a woman was found in possession of 20 full mandrax tablets.

A further four quarters of mandrax tablets were recovered from another suspect in Section B, Osizweni.

The three suspects are now in police custody and will appear in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court for possession of drugs. The drugs have a street value of approximately R5 000.

In a separate intelligence-driven operation, Osizweni Policing area and the Osizweni Crime Prevention Unit followed up on information regarding an alleged drug dealer operating in Section A, oSizweni.

Following up on the information, the team recovered a staggering 41 full mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R6 000. The alleged dealer is now in police custody.
