Is mandrax becoming the drug of choice for addicts? Are dealers in Osizweni becoming more brazen in their shady dealings, selling their illegal wares from their homes without fear?

Not a week goes past, where the South African Police Service (SAPS) does not report on Osizweni police arresting offenders. Yet, the war against drugs in Osizweni remains problematic as ever. Dealers profiting off the addiction of others.

On March 6, the Osiweni Policing Area held yet another intelligence-driven operation. Joining forces with the Osizweni Crime Prevention Unit, the officers descended onto a home in Section E, Osizweni. At the house, officers recovered six parcels containing mandrax tablets.

Taking the suspected dealer into custody, the officers followed up on more information regarding drugs in Section D, Osizweni. At the house in question, police recovered seven full mandrax tablets.

On Sunday, March 8, the team of officers recovered a further six parcels of mandrax tablets from a house in Section A.

With the suspected drug dealers in custody, it is only a question of time before the Osizweni police hold another intelligence-driven operation to target more alleged dealers.
