A Newcastle woman charged with the attempted murder of her children, after allegedly stabbing and disembowelling her three-year-old daughter, has been ordered to relocate out of Newcastle until the case has been finalised.
The decision follows the 32-year-old woman’s appearance at the Newcastle District Court on 27 May 2026, where she applied for bail after returning from Fort Napier, having undergone a psychiatric evaluation.

By that stage, she had spent more than eight months in custody while awaiting the outcome of the assessment.
For those unfamiliar with the incident, the woman was arrested on 11 September 2025 after allegedly stabbing her three-year-old daughter in the stomach, disembowelling her in the process. As previously reported by Newcastillian News, intervention came when a construction worker forced entry through a window at the home to rescue the child.
While the toddler sustained severe injuries, her siblings, aged 10 and two, escaped without serious physical harm.
At the time of the incident, the woman claimed that the devil had made her attack her children.

Her release follows the submission of an affidavit by the investigating officer, who indicated that he did not oppose bail.
However, State Prosecutor Jabulile Zondi called for additional safeguards, requesting a report from a probation officer and raising concerns about the welfare of the children.
She noted that, given the accused is their mother, her return to the household could expose the children to further psychological trauma.
In response, her legal representative, Zubair Chothia, informed the court that his client would not return to Newcastle, confirming that arrangements had been made for her to relocate to Pretoria until the matter is finalised.
The court accordingly approved her release on a warning, subject to conditions that she remain in Pretoria for the duration of the proceedings and refrain from having any contact with her children.
Speaking to Newcastillian News, Chothia explained that, while he could not provide further details as the matter remains sub judice:
“The psychiatric evaluation indicated that the 32-year-old mother had suffered temporary psychosis and has no recollection of attacking her children.”
As the accused prepares to relocate to Pretoria in compliance with the court’s order, the matter has been postponed to 8 July 2026.

As the case returns to court, its direction is likely to depend on how the medical findings are tested against the evidence, and whether they have a bearing on criminal responsibility in a matter of this nature.

There was no “temporary insanity/psychosis” SHE WAS FULLY AWARE so she must get the death sentence. Even jail is too good for her.
