The collision occurred shortly after 9 am, as the Jeep’s driver was approaching the intersection, preparing to turn right onto Kirkland Street.

“I was busy turning when the traffic light turned amber, and as I was turning, the truck which had been coming from the opposite direction, crashed into me,” she recounted, still visibly shaken. Newcastillian News reached out to the truck driver for his account, but he declined to comment on the incident.

The impact of the collision saw the Jeep crashing into a traffic light, seeing the vehicle standing on the paving where the traffic light once stood.

Within moments, the crash scene was a hive of activity. Traffic officials, security personnel, paramedics, and breakdown vehicles arrived to attend to both drivers, ensuring they received the necessary assistance while also managing traffic flow as the scene was cleared.

Fortunately, despite the severe collision, no injuries were reported. However, the driver of the Jeep was left deeply shaken by the ordeal. In light of the incident, authorities are urging drivers to exercise heightened caution at intersections and to strictly follow traffic regulations to help prevent similar accidents.

Sometimes the light is red and people still flash and speed over the robots its nothing new! Safest is to actually check if that car is going to stop or not and then proceed to whatever you have decided to do. But don’t just assume because the light is amber the next guy is going to stop, those times are long gone, and I mean long gone

Truck Drivers and Taxi Drivers have absolutely no regard for other road users. They are careless and assume they always have the right of way. The truck should have slowed down due to the length of it but obviously he’s not bothered cause he is in a big vehicle and he knows there won’t be much damage to his vehicle. Because of idiots like this many people lose their lives.
