A collision on the R34 near Vryheid in the early hours of Friday, 24 May 2024, has left three individuals critically injured.
Chantelle Botha, spokesperson for KwaZulu Private Ambulance, reported that the incident occurred around 1 am.
“When emergency services arrived, they found that a bakkie, truck, and car had been involved in a collision, resulting in the car overturning,” said Botha.
The aftermath was severe, with three victims sustaining critical injuries. One of the critically injured was a passenger trapped inside the car’s wreckage when emergency personnel arrived. Another individual sustained minor injuries.
“Together with EMRS and Fire Rescue service, the trapped patient was stabilised and extricated using specialised rescue tools,” detailed Botha. She added that the injured received urgent treatment at the scene before being rushed to the hospital for further medical intervention.
