The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon around 4 pm.

A witness at the scene reported that the vehicle she was travelling in had broken down. “We were pushing the car out of the way and off the road when a white Toyota Yaris stopped behind us. A grey VW Polo then stopped as well,” she began.

The witness detailed that the situation took a bleak turn when the driver of a red VW Polo came up the hill and collided with the grey VW Polo. This was followed by a Land Rover crashing into the red VW Polo.

The driver of the Land Rover explained that she had just changed lanes and didn’t see that the Yaris and grey VW Polo had stopped for the vehicle being moved off the road. As the red VW Polo came to a sudden stop, she was unable to react in time and collided with the vehicle.

The drivers of the grey VW Polo and the Toyota Yaris left the scene shortly before law enforcement arrived.

Responding to the incident, Magenta Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Charles Steyn confirmed that one person had sustained injuries. “The injured patient was the driver of the red VW Polo. The Magenta EMS team ensured she was stable before transporting her to the hospital.”

No one else was injured, but the driver of the Land Rover noted she was in a state of shock as she was driving with her two children, one of whom was an 11-week-old baby.
