Four injured in collision involving truck and car on Albert Wessels Drive

During the early hours of Monday morning, 13 May 2024, a collision involving a truck and a Ford Focus occurred on Albert Wessels Drive, Newcastle, resulting in injuries to four people.

According to an official source at the scene, the Ford Focus was travelling from Madadeni towards Newcastle, while the truck was heading towards Zama Garage from the N11 and Albert Wessels Drive intersection.

“There is a pool of water along Albert Wessels Drive, and it is suspected that the driver of the car hit the water and lost control of their vehicle before crashing into the truck,” explained the official source.

A paramedic from KwaZulu Private Ambulance stated, “All four occupants of the Ford Focus sustained injuries. Two individuals suffered minor injuries, while the other two sustained serious injuries, including fractures, lacerations, and bruising.”

All four patients were transported to the hospital for further evaluation and care following initial treatment at the scene.
