In the pursuit of enhancing educational excellence, the ArcelorMittal Foundation has donated approximately 4.5 tonnes of steel to Qualitas Career Academy Newcastle.

Valued at an estimated R56,000, Joe Nowbath from ArcelorMittal Foundation explained that the steel, consisting of flat bars, angle iron, and round bars, will be used for students in the boilermaking and welding programmes.

This marks another instance of the steel giant’s support for Qualitas Career Academy Newcastle. Nowbath disclosed that the ArcelorMittal Foundation regularly donated steel on an annual basis to educational institutions that request it for teaching purposes. To date, the company has contributed steel to Majuba TVET College, Qualitas Academy, and Tugela School.
“The ArcelorMittal Foundation is proud to contribute to the upskilling of the youth in South Africa,” stated Nowbath.
Reflecting on the donation, Martie Lerm, Campus Manager of Qualitas Career Academy Newcastle, expressed immense joy about the steel provided by the ArcelorMittal Foundation. “It will positively impact so many lives, particularly those from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. This steel will be instrumental in helping students learn welding,” noted Lerm, emphasising its potential to benefit them in their future careers.
As the ArcelorMittal Foundation extends its support to tertiary institutions, aiding the education of those pursuing careers in the steelworks industry, what are your thoughts on this initiative?

Good day and hoping this message finds you well. I would like to enquire whether donations of steel from your company is possible for individuals in Gauteng, Pretoria. What is the formal procedure to be followed should such donation be available.
