In a devastating accident on Saturday morning, 30 September 2023, a taxi overturned multiple times on Stilldrift Road in Dannhauser, situated between Newcastle and Dundee, resulting in the tragic loss of six lives.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:20 am, prompting a response from emergency medical services.
Providing further insight, Chantelle Botha, spokesperson for KwaZulu Private Ambulance, detailed the unfolding of the tragedy.
Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that the taxi had overturned and rolled multiple times due to the driver losing control of the vehicle. Paramedics on site found two individuals in critical condition, with eight more sustaining serious injuries.
“Sadly, six people had sustained fatal injuries and had succumbed to their injuries before emergency services arrived,” expressed Botha.
Immediate medical attention was provided to the ten injured individuals at the scene before they were transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Taxis need to be limited to 10 passengers at any time and the driver needs a breathalyser block ignition starter.
And all local and national politicians shouldnt be allowed to own taxis.
Otherwise our people will continue to die like this
