Cassidy Goga Found Deceased in Newcastle

The search for Newcastle’s Cassidy Goga has drawn to a close following his body being discovered on a vacant plot of land, situated on Panorama Drive in Fernwood, Newcastle.

The community-filled search for the 21-year-old came to an end on Saturday, 12 November 2022, after Cassidy’s body was found hanging in the vacant field. Detective Warrant Officer Karen Landman explained, the exact cause of death could not be confirmed until a post-mortem was conducted. At this stage, SAPS are yet to confirm if it was murder or suicide. 

Looking back, Cassidy went missing on Monday, 7 November 2022, leaving his home in Lennoxton, and making his way to a local college situated in Amajuba Park.

Following his disappearance, Newcastillians immediately joined hands and began searching for the young man.

At the time, the Newcastillian News reported on how the Newcastle SAPSRenegades Search and Rescue and the community were conducting constant searches in an attempt to find Cassidy.

With his family growing frantic during the days following Cassidy’s disappearance, his father Malesh Goga explained how the 21-year-old had been studying instrumentation. During the search operations, he explained, “He is very quiet, polite, and responsible. This behaviour is very unlike him.”

While the search for Cassidy Goga has come to a tragic end, police are investigating the matter.
