The assassination of Cllr Reginald Ndima, the Speaker of the Amajuba District Municipality, sent shockwaves throughout the community.

Cllr Ndima was assassinated in his Ncandu Park home in the early hours of Saturday, 29 January 2022. According to police sources, he was shot by unknown assailants while closing the gate after parking his car in the garage.

The gunshots reportedly woke up his wife and children, who allegedly dashed outside. Cllr Ndima was discovered lying in the driveway and rushed to the hospital.

Unfortunately, he was declared dead on arrival.

Following his death, police are making progress in their investigations. This comes after the arrests of 43-year-old Mhlonishwa Sokhulu and 29-year-old Sbusiso Chocolo.

KwaZulu-Natal National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Natasha Kara explains that the two men appeared in the Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 7 February 2022, in connection with Cllr Reginald Ndima’s murder.

“The men were charged with murder, and their matter was postponed to 14 February 2022 for bail information and the accused attorney,” Kara states.

As the two suspects prepare to appear in court again within the next week, what are your thoughts?
