Homeless people begging for money at various intersections are nothing new to Newcastillians. However, are vagrants stooping to an all-time low?

On Wednesday, November 10, 2021, an older woman was seriously injured in a freak accident in Morningside, Durban.

Paramedics from Emer-G-Med responded to the scene on Gordon Road and discovered the woman in critical condition after enduring a series of unfortunate events.

“Reports from the scene allege she had parked her car and was walking behind it when it rolled back, knocking her over and driving over her,” Emer-G-Med states.

Following being run over by her vehicle, adding insult to injury, a group of vagrants in the area robbed the injured woman of her belongings before emergency services arrived.

Paramedics using advanced life support performed several interventions to stabilise her before transporting her to a nearby hospital for further care.
