The wheels of justice have been set in motion, with looters realising their actions yield consequences.
On Wednesday, 4 August 2021, information surfaced about hardware goods looted from businesses during the social unrest. In light thereof, Imran Ghafoor of the Newcastle Crime Fighter Task team explains that the target was identified, and an operational unit was quickly implemented.
Ghafoor elaborates that the operational team consisted of Newcastle K9 Unit, Warrant Officer Klynsmith, Warrant Officer Thusi, Sergeants Nkosi and Mthembu, and Constables Kunene and Mbamo plus Ebrahim of the Anti-Hijacking Unit. Additionally, the Newcastle Crime Fighter Task Team, who assisted, consisted of Ghafoor, Ismail, and his son.
The team descended onto the property in Mathukuza, where the stolen goods were stored. Two suspects were arrested and taken to the Newcastle Police Station.
Well done to all those who participated in the operation; we know you will enjoy continued success in recovering stolen goods.
