On January 19 and January 20, the oSizweni Policing Area conducted an intelligence drive operation, with the assistance of the oSizweni Crime Prevention Unit.

Following up on information from reliable sources, the police officers descended on a house in Section B, oSizweni on January 19. At the home, an alleged stolen Samsung cell phone was confiscated.

From there, the officers made their way to Section A. When they reached the public road, the officers confiscated three full mandrax tablets, one half of a mandrax tablet and two quarter mandrax tablets.

But the drug busts did not end here. The officers returned to Section B, oSizweni, where they recovered six small packets of cocaine mandrax.

The two units then received further information regarding drugs in Section A. Upon investigation, ten full mandrax tablets were recovered at the house in question.

On January 20, the officers raided a house in Section A, oSizweni, where 25 full mandrax tablets were recovered. A home in Section B was also target by the police, where a further 10 mandrax tablets were confiscated.

Newcastle SAPS spokesperson, Captain Jabulani Ncube says the two-day operation yielded positive results, with four suspects now in custody. The drugs have an estimate street value of R20 000.

The suspects will now face court proceedings at Madadeni Magistrate Court.

In a separate incident, the oSizweni Crime Prevention Unit held an intelligence drive operation on January 21.

This follows information received regarding drugs in the area. At a house on the Msomi Stand, Blaauwbosch, the officers recovered 80 full mandrax tablets. At another home, also on the Msomi Stand, officers recovered two full mandrax tablets, four halves of mandrax tablets and two quarters of mandrax tablets.

The suspects are now in police custody.
