As crime continues to weigh heavily on the minds of Newcastle residents, the local South African Police Service (SAPS) has intensified efforts to locate a suspect wanted in connection with a housebreaking case, appealing directly to the community for assistance.
Speaking to Newcastillian News, Newcastle SAPS spokesperson Lizzy Arumugam confirmed that police are actively searching for Mthetheleli Ximba, who is believed to be within the Newcastle area.

Ximba is wanted for housebreaking, and authorities have now broadened their efforts as part of an ongoing investigation.
In light of this, Arumugam has urged members of the public to play a proactive role by coming forward with any information that could assist in tracing the suspect.
Furthermore, she emphasised the urgency of public cooperation, noting that even the smallest detail could prove critical in advancing the case.
Therefore, anyone with relevant information is advised to immediately contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Karen Landman, on 079 500 0526.
However, while calling for assistance, Arumugam also issued a firm warning to ensure public safety is not compromised.
“This individual is wanted by the police, and should not be approached if seen. Do not intervene, but rather report it to the police immediately,” said Arumugam.
Meanwhile, the SAPS has reiterated its commitment to addressing criminal activity in the area, stressing that community vigilance, coupled with responsible reporting, remains a key component in ongoing policing efforts.
Against this backdrop, the search for Ximba remains active, with investigators continuing to follow up on information as it emerges.

For now, the case hinges on whether actionable leads surface in time to narrow the search within the Newcastle area. Until then, police efforts will remain ongoing, shaped by the pace and reliability of information received from the public, with any credible lead likely to prove decisive in bringing the matter to a close.
