While the exact circumstances leading up to the event are unclear, the CCTV footage involves an incident that is said to have taken place outside a tavern in the Watermeet/Beesters area of Ladysmith on 21 December 2025, during a tavern raid.
Taking place shortly before 18:00, the footage shows a woman standing outside the tavern with alcohol, observing as police conducted operations. During this period, the officer is seen approaching the woman and repeatedly slapping her, causing the woman to drop some of the alcohol she had purchased, before the police official and her colleagues left the scene.
Seeking clarification on the incident, Newcastillian News approached the district SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Basheer Khan, who referred the line of questioning to KZN SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda.

“Police have seen the video of what looks like a female police officer, seemingly assaulting another female person. However, no case has been reported to the police regarding the video and the authenticity of the video has not been confirmed”, stated Netshiunda.
He further pointed out that if the authenticity of the video is verified, and the officer is found to have used excessive force, internal processes, as guided by regulations, will unfold.
However, the police officer could have been responding to a previous altercation or engagement with the woman, leading to a justified encounter.
This is why the investigation into the matter is of the utmost importance.

Female police officers are starting to become a problem in society, even if there was a previous encounter with the woman that doesn’t justify what is seen on there vedio the process must stick to the evidence at hand not what happened in the past. Female cops must stop hiding behind the badge so they can abuse people. It’s brutality what she did nothing more.
