Shortly before 8am on Monday, emergency services responded to a single-vehicle accident on the N11 near Ingogo, where the driver escaped without serious injury.

Unfolding shortly before 8am on Monday, 11 August 2025, Road Angels South Africa reported that while the exact cause of the incident remains unclear, it is suspected that the bakkie’s differential came loose, causing the driver to lose control and crash.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Due to the extent of the collision, one lane of the N11 had to be closed while wreckage and debris were cleared from the scene. Although the driver walked away unscathed, this was just one of several accidents over the past three days.

According to Road Angels South Africa, another serious crash occurred on the R34, approximately eight kilometres from the Blood River Intersection towards Utrecht.
Details remain limited, but paramedics attended to the injured truck driver while the Vryheid Fire Department assisted, as the vehicle had been carrying diesel.

KwaZulu Private Ambulance spokesperson Craig Botha confirmed that his team responded to the incident, which took place on the R34 near Newcastle on Sunday night, 10 August 2025. He explained that the driver allegedly lost control, colliding with trees, becoming trapped in the cab.

“Working in collaboration with Fire and Rescue Services, the patient was successfully extricated using specialised equipment. The driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment,” said Botha.
Botha added that the KwaZulu Private Ambulance team also attended an accident on Saturday morning at around 7:30 am, when a vehicle overturned multiple times on the R34 near Newcastle. While the circumstances are still being investigated, two people were seriously injured. They were stabilised on scene before being taken to hospital.

Furthermore, emergency personnel emphasise that these incidents, occurring within just three days, highlight the urgent need for improved road safety in the region. Motorists are urged to check their vehicles regularly, drive defensively, adapt to changing road conditions, and follow all traffic laws to prevent further tragedies.
