According to Hospital General Manager Japie Greyling, Mediclinic Newcastle has identified the need to implement an advisory group to provide valuable, first-hand feedback on patients’ care journeys and potential areas for improvement in serving the diverse needs of the community.
The hospital highlights that they want to ensure that there’s continuous improvement to their delivery of care within the community.
“By including members of the community, previous or current patients, the hospital will use these insights to improve the client experience and meet the needs that matter to them the most,” explains Greyling. “These Advisory Groups will serve as a direct channel to management and clinicians to address client concerns and recommendations; and guide implementation of improved services for better outcomes. This way, we are strengthening our relationship with our clients and our community.”
Mediclinic Newcastle invites any community member wishing to participate in the advisory group and who meet the following criteria to apply: recent patient admission to the hospital, time availability to attend quarterly meetings to ensure the group’s success, and willingness to reach consensus and support the vision of group decisions.
“We would like to thank the community for their willingness and interest – this can only benefit all those seeking care from our facility,” Greyling concludes.

Newcastle mediclinic must get rid of the ECR consultants at the Emergency centre. Through them mediclinic gets a bad name, bring back our own GPs to see us, these consultants most medical aids dont pay for.
Well done Japie as this will make a great difference in the Community and healthy relationships will be built.
Kim in the bigger centres you must pay cash for the Dr and the stock used, on discharge at once. Then claim back from your medical aid. You guys have it easy here.
