Three people were injured on Monday morning, 12 May 2025, in a collision at the intersection of Allen Street and Albert Wessels Drive.

An official at the scene explained that the incident unfolded as a VW Polo allegedly attempted to navigate a turn onto Albert Wessels Drive.
“As the driver was turning, a taxi attempted to cross the intersection and crashed into the VW Polo,” said the source.
While authorities are still piecing together the exact sequence of events, Craig Botha, Spokesperson for KwaZulu Private Ambulance, reported that emergency responders arrived to find three individuals wounded.

All three victims, officials confirmed, were passengers in the VW Polo. Botha highlighted that one person sustained critical injuries, with the other two suffering serious harm.
Paramedics acted immediately, stated Botha. “All patients were stabilised at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.”

Drivers don’t respect traffic lights. When the lights are amber they still cross not giving the the other cars right of passage. They still want to cross when robots just turn red. Taxi’s are very famous for doing so.
Try turning into hospital street from Allen Street!!! The taxis just keeps coming after the robots have turned red!!!
Taxis do not obey any traffic rules..they are a law unto themselves…they stop anywhere more especially near robot intersections blocking traffic for turning cars. They just ignore red robots…it seems they control the roads of Newcastle
Taxi drivers negligence
Has left one of the 3 fighting for there life in ICU
These are killers behind a wheel should be in jail for life
Traffic cops are unable to apply Traffic laws on taxi drivers ,( looks like taxi drivers have upper hand over cops !.
Something needs to be done against taxi owners and operators, legally, as they have no respect for other life, including their own and the passengers they are caring. Officials turn a blind eye to taxi owners and operators. It’s ridiculous how they have no way of driving and no respect for other motorists.
