The incident took place shortly before 11 AM, near the Audi dealership.

Official sources at the scene reported that the driver of a Hyundai I20 allegedly stopped suddenly on the roadway without signalling, triggering a sequence of events: a Hyundai truck collided with the smaller vehicle, and a VW Caddy then struck the truck with significant force.

Emergency responders arrived within minutes, with paramedics confirming one injury among the crash’s aftermath. At that time, details regarding the extent of the injuries remained undisclosed as the medical team focused on providing immediate assistance.

While paramedics attended to the injured individual, officials took charge of the escalating traffic, directing its movement to clear the area and prevent further disruptions on the busy stretch of road.

Authorities will conduct further investigation into the incident, as to identify its precise causes. In the meantime, officials are urging drivers to respect traffic regulations and avoid abrupt, signalled stops, which they consider highly dangerous.

In a town where little attention is given to the basics of road safety, this is to be expected. When SAPS officers in uniform in official vehicles blatantly ignores stop signs, it is small wonder that the example is promptly followed. This follows through to a lack of respect for law enforcement and laws.
Writing municipal bylaws that are unenforcable, fuels this trend of ill disciplined citizens disregarding traffic rules, laws and regulations.
Police visibilty does not mean being seen, it means being seen enforcing the law. Doing so in a polite and civilised manner will cultivate respect for the Service and the Law, creating a safe and respectable environment for lawabiding residents especially for our children while simultaneusly setting an example for future generations.
