Under the onslaught of persistent rain, traffic officials were thrust into the challenge of managing a congested flow of vehicles, striving to keep order on the treacherous, wet roads.

All the while, paramedics attended to those injured, while tow trucks navigated the chaotic scene to remove the involved vehicles.

Curious onlookers in passing cars slowed to witness the unfolding drama, and pedestrians, undeterred by the downpour, observed the emergency services in action. An official at the scene, while acknowledging the likely influence of the wet conditions, could not pinpoint the exact cause of the crash. He remarked, “It is not exactly clear what happened. However, it is believed the Toyota Corolla nearly hit a bakkie fully from the back, and somehow hit a Nissan, which had been travelling in the opposite direction, head-on.”

ER24 EMS personnel confirmed the injuries but were unable to provide detailed information on their severity. However, they did stabilise both injured women, before transporting them to hospital for further treatment.

An in-depth investigation is now in progress, with officials emphasizing the need for motorists to exercise heightened caution on the city’s rain-slicked roads.

  1. PLEASE slow down. Can’t believe how fast people drive in the rain with the potholes and water not draining off the roads fast enough
