Exciting changes are on the horizon for Utrecht as the eMadlangeni Municipality gears up for a significant boost to its road infrastructure.
In a ceremonial display of commitment, the municipality recently held a sod-turning event to mark the commencement of three vital road improvement projects.
These initiatives will focus on revitalising Umlwane Road, Vaalbank Road, and Keerom Street.
Although the cost of these ambitious projects has not been disclosed, the eMadlangeni Municipality’s Communications Unit announced that all three roads are expected to be completed within the next four months. Moreover, the Communications Unit highlighted the initiative is a direct response to the severe damage inflicted on the road network by recent flooding. The devastating weather conditions had rendered some roads almost unusable, affecting many residents.
As work on these projects begins, the Communications Unit emphasised that the upgrades will not only enhance the town’s infrastructure but also create valuable job opportunities for local residents, including both skilled and semi-skilled workers.
With the municipality’s infrastructure overhaul underway, Utrecht’s Mayor, Cllr Buthlezi, urged the community to support and protect these projects from any disruptions.
“We are excited to finally bring this much-needed service to the community,” he said, underscoring the importance of the roadworks for Utrecht’s future.
