According to an official at the scene, while it is currently unclear what exactly transpired during the collision, a bakkie reportedly crashed into the rear of a Nissan Almera.

The crash resulted in at least one person being injured. A paramedic at the scene noted that the injured individual sustained a suspected fracture in one of his legs, and the other occupants had to be examined to determine if they were injured as well. Traffic flow was slightly hampered due to the collision, as law enforcement, traffic officials, and paramedics attended to the scene and the injured.

However, this was the second reported collision on Monday, with the first incident occurring along the N11 at the Dannhauser-Chelmsford turn-off before 6 am.

According to Magenta Emergency Medical Service’s Charles Steyn, this incident unfolded when one of the motorists allegedly failed to stop at the intersection of the turn-off. “No injuries were reported at the incident,” explained Steyn.

While no injuries were fortunately reported in this collision, Steyn urged motorists using the road and the intersections to practise caution and adhere to the traffic rules due to the potentially dire consequences of not stopping at an intersection. “It is concerning that people don’t always stop at the intersection and this can result in a side impact (t-bone) of vehicles, and this can be just as bad as a head-on collision.”

  1. The people will never learn.
But something must be done about the non-existent road markings, and the water and sand on the road.
Also no road markings either on the busy bridge by the taxi rank.
