This news follows the recent handover of a multi-million Rand contract for the road’s resealing by the KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety, and Liaison, Sipho Hlomuka.

The ceremony occurred at the Dannhauser Community Hall on Thursday, 14 June 2024.

The KZN Department of Transport stated that the resealing project forms part of broader efforts to enhance road networks across the province. The goal is to improve connectivity and mobility for communities, providing safe, all-weather access to facilities within Dundee, Hattingspruit, and Dannhauser areas, under the Ingwe Traditional Council.

“The reseal of Road P35-1 entails the repair of base and surface defects and the reseal of the entire road using a double seal, estimated to cost over R67 million including design and supervision. The project will create more than 30 job opportunities for local workers with emerging contractors set to also benefit from the project,” noted the KZN Department of Transport.

This exciting development promises to not only improve the quality of the road but also boost local employment and support emerging contractors.

  1. Thanx for wanting to fix our roads. Much appreciated. But they should’ve rather spend that kind of money on the Dundee – Vryheid road. That stretch of road are extremely dangerous. Many lives lost. But ja. Thanx anyway.
