Monday morning, 10 June 2024, witnessed shattered glass strewn across a section of the tarmac of Albert Wessels Drive, as passing motorists slowed down to watch emergency personnel respond to a collision on the busy road.

Occurring shortly before 8 am, the collision involved a taxi and a cash-in-transit vehicle, resulting in multiple injuries.
As emergency personnel busied themselves at the scene, an official source stated, “It isn’t clear on what exactly happened, but the cash-in-transit vehicle allegedly crashed into the back of the taxi.”
The force of the collision propelled the taxi along the grassy embankment beside the road, coming to a halt next to a business’s premises. Following the crash, emergency personnel rushed to the scene, with traffic officials, paramedics, and tow truck operators working in unison to clear the area and tend to the injured. According to the official source, four people were reportedly injured.


Further investigations into the incident are now underway to determine exactly what transpired.

Another collision in Newcastle…what a shocker.
And the Traffic Department still have no plans in place, nor are there any responses to the comments of the residents.
Maybe our Traffic Department needs a wake-up call every morning…
Or maybe The Newcastillian needs to interview the management of the Traffic Department regarding all our traffic related issues.
Sticking your head in the sand, and hoping that people will all of a sudden adhere to the rules of the road, is not going to happen.
