Taking place a short distance away from the Newcastle Municipal dumpsite and airport, an official source at the scene explained that the incident unfolded while the driver and her passengers were en route to a funeral.

“While they were driving, the back wheel on the driver’s side burst, resulting in the driver losing control of the vehicle and it overturning,” explained the source.

The vehicle came to an abrupt stop on a vacant piece of land next to the road, with some of the vehicle’s occupants being flung out of the bakkie.
