Newcastle community urged to help locate missing resident

Finding closure: The devastating story about Afzal Khader's fate

An urgent plea has been issued to the Newcastle community to assist in locating 28-year-old Afzal Khader, who has been missing for eight days.

Renegades Search and Rescue detailed that Khader was last seen leaving his home in Fernwood, Newcastle, on Monday, 4 March 2024, shortly after lunch.

His family grew increasingly worried when he failed to return, and their concerns have only intensified as no information regarding his whereabouts has emerged since then.

According to a family member who wishes to remain anonymous, Afzal resides with his grandfather and uncle in Fernwood, Newcastle, and it was highly unusual for him to be absent from home for such an extended period.

“We would like to tell Afzal, whatever you have done or are going through, it can be forgiven and overlooked. We just want you to return home safely,” said the distraught family member.

With Afzal Khader’s family urgently seeking him, Newcastillians are being called upon to assist in ensuring his safe return.

If anyone has information on Khader’s whereabouts, they are urged to contact Warrant Officer Mkhanza on 034 314 6247. Alternatively, the following representatives from Renegades Search and Rescue can be reached:
