This morning (19 February 2024), just before 8 am, while travelling along the road between Dundee and Wasbank an accident resulted in a woman being rushed to hospital.
According to Shanu Sayed of Rescue 101, the incident unfolded when the driver allegedly lost control of their vehicle, veering into the embankment lining the road.
While the precise cause of the loss of control remains uncertain, Sayed noted that drizzling rain at the time may have played a role.
“A woman was injured and had to be taken to hospital by paramedics,” Sayed reported, highlighting that she received immediate medical attention at the scene before transportation to a medical facility.
The accident led to an obstruction in one of the road’s lanes, prompting Rescue 101 and emergency personnel to clear the area to prevent further incidents, given the blind spot where the accident occurred.
As the South African Weather Services forecast thunderstorms in Newcastle, Ladysmith, Utrecht, and surrounding areas on Monday, motorists are urged to exercise caution in inclement weather conditions.
