Newcastle, KZN is experiencing a surge of positivity as the dedicated volunteers of New City Newcastle are unwavering in their commitment to bringing about much needed change to the community.

Led by the passionate Gustav van der Linde, the group recently gathered at the intersection of Impala Street and Victoria Road on Saturday morning, 29 July 2023.
With a clear and concise mission in mind, the volunteers took it upon themselves to revamp the area. Not only did they clean the intersection of dirt and litter, but they also took on the task of restoring the faded road markings and meticulously retouching the paintwork on the traffic lights.
Gustav Van der Linde took a moment to extend his heartfelt gratitude to all the participating volunteers and the generous sponsors, Build It and Paruks Hardware, who provided the required paint. Notably, Gustav personally contributed funds to support the initiative, showcasing his dedication to the cause.

One of the volunteers on the day, Wilson Zwane, expressed the importance of community involvement, stating, “It is important to get involved as it makes the town look good and contributes to the community. I encourage others to join.”
Saturday’s project was just the beginning, as New City Newcastle has an array of upcoming initiatives in the pipeline. In the following weeks, the group has planned the following projects:
Firstly, they aim to paint the speed humps in Hutten Heights, with a vision to extend the initiative to other suburbs, supported by the sponsorship of Newcastle Municipality.
Additionally, the volunteers will take on the task of painting the bridge crossing on Hardwick Street in August 2023.

Furthermore, New City Newcastle’s primary focus lies in restoring Newcastle to its former glory, and the group is eager to hear the thoughts and opinions of the community on these endeavours.
