Newcastle SAPS have opened an inquest case following the death of a 43-year-old woman in Flamingo Street, Aviary Hill.

According to an official police source, the mother of two tragically took her life on Friday, 7 October 2022.

The woman had apparently come home at approximately 10 am, greeted her mother-in-law and went about her day. The source further explained that the woman was then seen in the kitchen at 2 pm, before calling her mother at 4 pm.

After her husband arrived home just before 5 pm, the police source explained that he first went to her room. “They are married but stayed in different rooms,” the source stated.

When he could not find her, the man went to his own room where he found his wife on his bed.

“When he went closer, he saw she had shot herself with his firearm, which was taken from the safe. The firearm was lying on the floor between the deceased legs, one cartridge was found at the entrance of the bedroom.”

Emergency personnel were contacted, but the woman was unfortunately declared dead on the scene by EMRS personnel.

Newcastillian News and Pixelfish Marketing extend our heartfelt condolences to the family for their loss.
