The government entity’s Communications Unit added, “Unfortunately, due to this, the reservoir must first drain before the main outlet valve. The contractor is currently on site working on it and will try by all means possible to isolate so that water loss is limited.”

Water Tankers have been allocated to assist, as the situation may take up to two days to resume back to normal.

Addressing the planned water interruptions in Estcourtthe uThukela District Municipality stated that the service provider for the industrial pipeline project would be doing a tie-in at the George Cross Water Treatment Works from Friday, 29 April 2022.

The District Municipality’s Communications Unit said, “The work is expected to take no more than 24 hours to complete.”

As a result of the planned maintenance, the following areas will be affected by water interruptions:

  • Loskop Road
  • Bank Road, Cliff Road
  • Broomcliff Road
  • Part of Albert Street.

With planned water outages affecting the two towns, what are your thoughts?
