Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal born Mbali Dlamini is setting her sights on achieving greatness and is well on her way to becoming a star personality as she now prepares for the national beauty pageant, Miss South Africa.

Through a pageantry process, contestants receive world-renowned coaching in addition to advanced networking, business and life skills.
The contestants are also shaped into brand ambassadors for the country, becoming champions of women’s rights, thought leaders and goal-orientated career women.
Explaining to the Newcastillian – Online News why she entered, Mbali says, “Firstly, because I believe in myself, I believe I have the qualities that are necessary to be an ambassador of the youth and I have the passion. With this opportunity that the Miss South Africa platform gives us, especially with all the sponsors that they have, I could then be the gateway and essentially do projects for the youth by the youth that tackle some of the present social ills.”
Among the social ills that plague people, Mbali feels unemployment among the youth is an issue that needs to be addressed.
“With having travelled abroad, I saw that this is actually a global issue. Whatever is affecting us in Newcastle, is affecting a friend of mine in Europe. This has a negative effect on the individual and their families, as well as the broader community. These issues could be addressed via platforms like Miss South Africa. We could design and implement programs that are aimed at youth development.”
Additionally, she highlights that as a young girl from the small town of Newcastle, she wasn’t offered the same opportunities that she feels today’s youth have. Yet, despite this, Mbali aims to be a role model for these youngsters, showing them the importance of reaching for their dreams.
“Now is the time, if not now then, when? If not me then who?” Proclaims Mabali.
This is the second time Mbali is entering Miss South Africa, the first time being in 2019 when she made it to the Top 35.
However, as Mbali now works towards clinching the coveted crown of Miss South Africa, she is more than just a pretty face.
Matriculating from Newcastle High School, Mbali also has her Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in Strategic Brand Communication and is currently working towards her honours.
On top of this, Mbali says, “I am a social entrepreneur, full time student, model and brand influencer.”
Furthermore, Mbali is signed to three television modelling campaigns, seeing her become a local star as she reaches for her dreams.
While now based in Johannesburg, working on reaching her full potential, Mbali has not forgotten about her hometown. This can be seen through her establishing Miss Bedazzle Newcastle, the Bedazzle Fashion Show, and the Annual Modelling Masterclass.
As Mbali Dlamini is determined to be a role model and reach out to the youth while striving to obtain her goal of being crowned Miss South Africa, the Newcastillian – Online News wishes her all the best in her exciting journey with the national pageant.
