On Wednesday, 13 April 2022, chaos erupted at a store in Arbor Park, Newcastle—after a teenage boy was murdered.
At the time, Newcastle Crime Fighter Task Team’s Imran Ghafoor explained that he had received a call regarding community members looting a store at the Arbor Park Shopping Centre.

However, upon arrival, law enforcement faced an angry group of community members seeking justice for the murder of a school child. It was then that law enforcement learned that a teenager had been murdered after an altercation in the store.

With multiple stories circulating on how the murder had taken place, Spokesperson for Newcastle Police, Lizzy Arumugam, explains what Newcastle detectives have uncovered thus far.
According to police officers who were first on the scene, Arumugam says that at 6.20 pm, the deceased, who attended Panorama High School, was found lying dead on the floor inside the shop.
“He had a small hole in the chest and there was an iron bar lying on the floor inside the shop. It is alleged that the deceased had an argument with the suspects.”
Furthermore, the two suspects were arrested, and they are expected to now appear in Newcastle Magistrates Court.
