Fibre Network Operator, Evotel recently held a two-day family fun day supporting the Ladysmith Hospice while supplying the community with a fantastic day out.
Playing host to Evotel, the Ladysmith Oval Shopping Centre came to life on Saturday, 12 February 2022, and Sunday, 13 February 2022. The initiative forms part of Evotel’s commitment to community support and development.
Creating a vibrant atmosphere, the event saw attendees treated to free boerewors rolls and good music. Not forgetting the little ones who enjoyed cotton candy, popcorn and a jumping castle.

Getting the community involved, prizes were on offer, where guests won various Evotel merchandise, such as caps, masks and t-shirts, by popping balloons. A lucky prize for a Takealot voucher to the value of R1 000 was also up for grabs and won by Ladysmith resident Nomsa Hlonswane.
The highlight of the two-day initiative came in the form of Evotel handing over a cheque for R10 000 to the Ladysmith Hospice.
Speaking at the event, Evotel’s Head of Brand, Bradley Bekker, enthused, “Evotel is a company that not only believes in providing Fibre for everyone, but is also a company that cares for the communities it operates in, like Ladysmith. We reach out to those in need and help in whatever way possible and on this occasion, we focussed our attention on the Ladysmith Hospice and its supporters. We donated R10 000 to the cause and are confident that our contribution will be of great help to them in their efforts to provide quality palliative care and improve the quality of life of persons with life-threatening illnesses.”
Programme Manager at Ladysmith Hospice, Chandre Jannon, said, “This Evotel donation is fantastic and comes just at the right time. It will help us buy staff uniforms, which we currently have too few of. It will also greatly contribute to cover the shortfall in our insurance to buy a replacement laptop that was stolen three weeks ago. The Evotel staff are incredible, and their enthusiasm is contagious.”
The fibre network company further affirmed that it is constantly investing in the communities it operates in and supports various initiatives, such as providing free fibre access to schools in the area to assist with the education of South Africa’s youth.
The company is planning more fun-filled events for other towns and charities across the country in the near future.
