On Saturday, 26 February 2022, Huttenpark Primary School hosted Fibre Network Operator, Evotel‘s family and charity orientated event.
The day supported the essential work Home Meah Child and Youth Care Centre provides for abandoned, abused and neglected babies in Newcastle and surrounding areas. However, the continuous efforts of Home Meah have been stifled due to current difficult financial times.
On the day, Evotel provided complimentary food while forwarding guests the opportunity to try their hand at battling the mechanical bull, soaking up the water slides and bouncing around on various inflatables.
Those with a competitive streak were able to show their strength on the obstacle course or get a game in on the foosball tables.
As the day focused on Home Meah, Evotel also handed over a cheque to the value of R10 000 to the Home to assist with the day-to-day care of the kids. Jointly donations of nappies, wipes and creams for the babies were handed over.
“Evotel is a company that believes in providing Fibre for everyone, but is also a company that cares for the communities it operates in such as Newcastle. We reach out to those in need and help in whatever way possible and on this occasion we focussed our attention on the Home Meah charity to thank them for all they are doing for the babies and children they look after. With the support of our customers we are able to donate money and much-needed goods to charities, such as Home Meah, to assist them in their efforts to improve the quality of life of those in need,” says Bradley Bekker, Evotel’s Head of Brand.
Additionally, he explained that Evotel intends to conduct further initiatives, as the company plans to help as many people as possible while establishing a relationship of trust with the community.
To date, this is the second family fun day that Evotel has hosted. The first one took place in Ladysmith this January, supporting the Ladysmith Hospice.
“We care for the wellbeing of the communities we operate in and we place a huge focus on children and the youth, also providing free fibre access to schools in the area to assist with the education of South Africa’s leaders of tomorrow,” Bekker notes.
