This comes after the power utility issued a statement explaining that, due to a lack of generation capacity, Stage 2 loadshedding will be implemented from 4 pm on Tuesday, 2 November 2021, to 5 am on Wednesday morning.

According to the power utility, the loadshedding is due to a tripped generation unit at Kusile Power Station this afternoon.
“A unit each at Matimba and Arnot power stations failed to return to service as previously anticipated. These constraints are expected to persist for the rest of the week, which may require loadshedding to be extended.”
Emergency generation reserves, according to the utility, are being used extensively to supplement supply.
Current breakdowns total 17 933 MV, while planned maintenance totals 3451 MV.
