  • Group 3, 4 and 5 – Soft bricks/building/structure/understanding space and reasoning.
  • Grade R to 3 – As of 2022 the Foundation Phase will incorporate the New Kitsbits Multipurpose coding bot into their Robotics curriculum. The Grade 3 learners can also enjoy Robotics Club once a week after school.
  • Grade 4 to 7 – Mindstorms EV3 set/Class and club/Incorporates NS/ learn basic coding/ coding languages/ microchip coding
  • Grade 7 to 9 – The Arduino robot is a new robotics set where the learners are taught line coding rather than block coding and how to work on circuit boards.
  • Robotics Club from Grade 4 to 12 – Take part in WRO and STEAMD and is more advanced.

Galaxy Stars Class:

Curro Mount Richmore opened the Galaxy Stars Class in October 2020 to support learners who need a smaller learning environment to support their Individual Learning Requirements.

The school created a specialised therapy gym equipped with Occupational Therapy tools to allow for on-site O.T. sessions and on-site Speech Therapy sessions. 

Adding to this, the Galaxy Stars Class is supported by Curro Psychologist Jarryd Byron, who assists the class’s teacher with Individual Education Development Plan (IEDP) for each learner.

At the end of 2021, Curro Mount Richmore will be graduating their first Group 5’s into their mainstream Grade R classes. This forms part of the Galaxy Stars Class vision, which supports parents and families of little ones who require learning support on their journey to reaching their full potential.

How does the Foundation Phase (Grade R to 3) work at Curro Mount Richmore?

In Foundation Phase, the school believes in positive and fair discipline and will instead reward good behaviour than punish wrongdoings.

Curro Mount Richmore believes in old school values, and teachers must set the example. If a child does something wrong, the teachers will give the necessary guidance as to how he/she should have responded/acted. This is because the school believes in kind hands and loving hearts.

But what can new learners expect on their first day at Curro Mount Richmore? 

When new scholars are enrolled, it is usually suggested that the learner spend a day at Curro Mount Richmore prior to their official starting date.

Furthermore, the school also has an official orientation day in October/November for Grade R and newly enrolled Grade 1 learners.

Grade R and Grade 1 specific information letters are handed out to all Grade R and Grade 1 parents of the following year. Providing them with an overview of what to expect in terms of uniform and so forth.

In addition, Group 5 learners come to block F in term 4 to play during breaks to meet the Grade R teachers and familiarise themselves with the classrooms, playground, and bathrooms.
