On 12 October 2021, about noon, a bus crashed off the roadway on the N3, near the Tugela River, killing and injuring several.
Robert McKenzie, Media Liaison Officer for KZN Emergency Medical Services, revealed nine people died.
“Paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services, together with their colleagues from several private ambulance services treated 60 patients at the scene of the crash. All these patients have been transported to nearby hospitals for continued medical care,” McKenzie said.
The cause of the crash is unknown at this time but will be investigated by authorities.
The N3 Toll Concession said the bus was heading north towards Gauteng when the driver crossed the median and overturned.
